Archive for December, 2007

I don’t think I’m The Studio employee anymore. I don’t think I care much now, as much as I did when I had my last show. But I’ll elaborate on this more on a brand, spanking new year. For now, I’m going to take a shower to get ready for a barbecue at a cousin’s friend’s house.

Have a great new year, and be safe on the roads.

Mystery and destiny

I was browsing through videos on the Internet, and I thought bumping into a “Bhutto assassinated” video was just a sick joke that the world wide web was playing (I didn’t view it). But I read the news, and it was true. May the soul of Benazir Bhutto rests in peace. Al-Fatihah.

Another reason why I’m posting is that I cannot believe I missed Izzah’s brother’s nikah!! I am really, really angry at myself by thinking it was this Sunday. I am so sorry to Izzah and her family. Soooooooo, sooo sorry!! :(

But what I’m going to do, is attend the Guitar Hero and DDR tournament tonight at their place! :D

Never seems enough

My left eye is bloodshot. It started last night, and I thought it might have just been my contact lens, so I threw it out. But it is still watering and looks worse than last night. I am worried.

Someone I bumped into at a sushi restaurant yesterday said that I might have contracted conjunctivitis. I am still hoping that I haven’t.

I watched National Treasure: Book of Secrets yesterday afternoon. It was completely packed. Even when I booked tickets before midday, the 3 o’clock show was full, only the 5.15PM show was available. And by 4PM, no more seats were available to be booked, save for the single seats in odd places. I know because I tried reserving for two more seats, only ending up with one because the other didn’t want to sit alone.

How was the movie? Great, I loved it. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars. Way better than AVP — Requiem. I told my boyfriend that AVP — Requiem might have fitted in in the 80’s or 90’s, along with the Chuck Norris films. Haha. He thought I was being funny, but he didn’t appreciate the joke much. LOL.

On an unrelated note. Has anyone had a listen to Jordin Sparks’ No Air with Chris Brown? It’s good.

I’m off. Work is in a few hours. Toodles.

Randomly..

.. I am my mom’s family’s event manager. True story.

I just had a random fight with him. Our first fight in 2007.

Getting off that random boat;

I also watched Alien VS. Predator — Requiem with my colleagues yesterday, including a former blogger by the name of Nadd. (I know you are reading! :P ) It was such a pity that the movie wasn’t that good. Don’t even waste your money on watching it in the cinemas, or buying a DVD. If your friend, sister, brother, cousin, or spouse has the DVD, then just borrow it off them. But then you’ll be wasting your time.

Just don’t watch it. Rating: 2 out of 5 stars. If it wasn’t for the hybrid, it would have been 1.

But I’d like to thank my colleagues who paid for my ticket and drink! (I didn’t find out in the end because they won’t tell.)

Liz’s family had a barbecue going on last night, and that was loads of fun. Fighting over food and whatnot. Haha. I don’t know if they had chocolate fondue (again) because I left to watch the movie.

I hate that tomorrow is a working day. I just want to laze about at home. Which, I seem to be not doing ever since I’ve got those things they call spare time. Whatever spare time I have, someone is bound to have something for me to do. Like drive them somewhere, or watch movies with them, or have lunch. Hahaha.

I’m supposed to have lunch with Maurina today, but I can’t because, like I said, I’m my mom’s family’s event manager.

(I am also sad that there haven’t been pictures of the GBN by our official photographer yet, but I am patient because I knew he took loads and loads of pictures and he has to recolour some of them as they were taken in the “orange veranda”. Hehe. Also, boys have been popping up here and there asking me why I haven’t invited them to the GBN because they saw me in a picture posted in Rano’s site. Seriously, boys. It’s called GIRLY Bloggers’ Night, and if that doesn’t take full effect, it’s also called GIRLS in December. LOL. You know I’m kidding. [Not about the name of the gathering, though.] Hahahaha. ;) )

Girly Bloggers’ Night 2

Wow. I had a blast at this year’s Girly Bloggers’ Night/Girls In December. Truth be told, I wasn’t looking forward to it because I had a really long day and whatnot, but it turned out to be great! It was much more relaxed than last year, we had barbecue and fondue! We just ate and had a laugh.

I have a few pictures, but I’m going to wait for him to post everything up so I can steal. Haha.

I have to say, Maurina has outdone herself this year. Impeccably organized. Nonnie has gone out of her way to create the cute name tags with each girl’s URL underneath — which I’m keeping it for memories’ sake. Emma, being the gracious host, as always. (Don’t forget the cheese fondue recipe! :) And update! Please?)

If you ladies didn’t sign up, or signed up and didn’t attend, you missed out, big time!

(Pictures to come soon!)

The last time I posted was when I stumbled upon a kid’s blog. So much has happened in less than a week, it’s unbelievable!

Well, on Sunday, I went for the BSM Walk-A-Hunt, and saw familiar faces from blogs and from my ITB days, and it was fun, albeit a bit tiring. What made me laugh was that Anak Brunei had captured a picture, and it proves that I have a particular bangang (confused) look when the time calls for it. Hahaha. Look:

Picture literally stolen from Anak Brunei’s photo gallery.

Okay, you can’t really see it, but it’s there. No wonder my colleagues get annoyed when I get confused after they explain something. Even I am annoyed at myself. Haha.

Yesterday was Aidil Adha, so I know it’s a bit late, but Selamat Hari Raya to my Muslim readers anyway. :)

My family (on my mom’s side) had a great celebration. We had loads of food (catering plus many other potluck), and we had two sets of chocolate fondue with generous servings of strawberries, kiwis, and grapes! Heaps and heaps of fruits to dip into chocolate. YUMMY!!

So I’ve been driving my new car around, and I loooove the Bose sound system. I’ve never bothered with sound systems before and a car that comes automatically equipped with one is sort of heaven sent. Haha. If I haven’t said it, well, I love it. But what’s bothering me is the petrol intake my car has been using. It’s really worrying. I’m thinking I have to spend $100 a week or something. Haha, fine. Maybe a full tank per week. Or five days. Something like that.

I’ve watched loads of movies as well! I’ve watched Alvin and The Chipmunks, and it was hilarious! My mom watched it with my sister twice at the movies! I expected it to be lame and very childish, but I was wrong! It made the child inside me laugh and cheer! LITERALLY! I couldn’t stop giggling like an idiot in the cinema. And I don’t know if anyone else had mind, but they were doing it too! Theodore was just toooooooooooo cute!! Especially with his nightmares! AWWHHH!! Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Now, last night, I had watched I Am Legend. I have to admit, it was a bit slow in the beginning, and I was starting to wonder if people were wrong about the movie being good. But then, it did get good, and I found myself so stressed out at how stupid Robert Neville is for going into the dark. In the end, it was a very good movie experience. But, I think you should just catch it in the cinema or maybe at home with a good-quality DVD and a great sound system. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

This afternoon, I am off to watch Saw 4. This is after I go shopping with my family for fruits for more fondue fun!

Getting old

Tsk, tsk, tsk.. Kanak-kanak sekarang ani..

Very disappointing to find out that people who are younger than you are already letting you down even before the show starts.

But, whatever. I’m happy with me car! :D

Mazda CX-7

I mentioned I had something big for the end of the year. This is it! I got myself a Mazda CX-7 in white! And! I! Love! It!

Okay. I can’t find my camera’s USB thingy. Thus, no pictures. Never mind. Maybe next time. But I am going to post a proper entry.

I went to have a long overdue lunch with my girl friends today. Had a good catching up session, what’s been happening. And most importantly, I got to meet up with Izzah, whom I haven’t seen in ages! Even for Raya! Unbelievable as that is, it happened. I didn’t see her for Hari Raya. I don’t know what was wrong this year.

Anyway, us girls had Italian food at Capers and half of us drowned in the all you can eat promotion. Which, unfortunately, now costs B$2 more than it used to. No complaints from me, though. I still think it’s sort of worth it. If you’re on a budget and craving for Italian at the same time.

Fratini’s used to be my favourite Italian restaurant, but since the menu changed and my favourite dish is no longer on the menu, I haven’t gone there since a long time ago. Not sure of the pricing now, but paying for something that is considerably more than what I’m used to is just something I can’t do every other weekend. Maybe once in two months. Yea? But I don’t know. Haven’t been there since 2006 (or 2005), so, maybe I should consider dining there some time.

Oh, so back to the lunch, we had a great time, as always. I felt a part of my life is back. If only my wrist was well enough for me to play netball, I wouldn’t be as stressed. Yes, my mom has temporarily banned me from playing netball for now. Hopefully she’ll let me play next year. But I doubt it.

I just miss a lot of things right now. Things I would rather trade my new car with. You know? But I guess you can never have it all. Or at least you feel like you do.

If I had a day..

I keep on opening and closing my tab on ‘Write Post’ on this blog’s dashboard. While the tab loads, I’m thinking, “I want to blog about it,” then, “No way, I’m too exhausted to even think about it right now,” and so I close the tab, and then, I get back to, “DAMN. I need to have an outlet!” and open it back. It goes ’round and ’round, until here I am. Finally decided to do something about it, with a very hungry stomach.

Yes, I am hungry. I am sort of on a hunger strike.

I miss my dad. I miss him being the mediator in this family. I miss him being the patient, tolerant one. I miss him and how he knows when to tell the right joke to get everyone laughing. If you must know, I am in sort of a quarrel with my mom. It was unintentional, I swear. This is the biggest quarrel that I’ve ever had with her ever since dad died. Somewhere along the line, I knew I could’ve stopped it before it got worse. I knew I should have talked about something light-hearted. Anything.

I am just really tired at the moment. Everyone is expecting so much of me.

And here I am, missing school, missing my friends, missing my best girl friends, missing my dad, missing everything I had in my old life. Not that I don’t appreciate what I have now, but I am just tired of missing things that I used to have, and people who I used to spend my days with.

I think I’m going to relax by watching Pushing Daisies now. And take deep breathers in between.

Yeaaaaayy

Dear Izzah,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

With loads of love,
Me.
