Very heartbroken

The title really says it all. I am utterly heartbroken. My car was hit today during lunch. At Giant, nonetheless.

I have to stand up for myself and say it wasn’t my fault. What was my fault is the fact that I didn’t have a chance to stand up for myself when I had to. I was scared, my mind was everywhere, I don’t even know if I was breathing easy. I was so sad to see my car with that dent. :(

Here’s what happened, and I’ll try to make it really easy to understand.

It was after lunch, and I had to send my sister back home so I could get back to the office. We climbed into the car, with our typical ritual of prayer and safety belts.

I put my car into reverse, released the brake pedal, and let the car ease out of the parking spot. I turned my head left and right to see if there are any cars, oncoming or otherwise, and I saw a car, opposite to where mine was, also reversing out of a parking spot. I stopped right there and then, and was shocked that the girl driving didn’t stop! I couldn’t avoid it by going forward (there wasn’t much to move, just a few inches anyway), so I sounded the horn, real long and hard.

She looked real shocked to see my car there, but she didn’t stop. Instead, there was suddenly a crunching sound, and my sister, who had lunch with me, exclaimed, “OH MY, GOD! KA! YOUR NEW CAR!” If the situation wasn’t so tragic and the crunching sound didn’t echo my breaking heart, I would have laughed at how she had said it.

I put the car into parking, and got out. I did not move the car at all. The girl, whom I had guessed was three years younger than me, was horrified. For a moment, I was scared she might run off! But she motioned her hand towards me, as if asking me to wait, and I felt relieved. What didn’t make me happy was that she parked her car back into the parking spot.

I wanted to call the police, I really did. Because the one thing that I was taught in driving school was that whatever accident, however minor, you had to call the police. I was shook up, so I called my mom instead. I couldn’t stand up for myself, as I felt I needed someone to back me up.

The girl finally got out of her car, and approached mine. She apologized. I didn’t, because it wasn’t my fault. And she looked guilty anyway. So I was hoping she could vouch for me when her policeman father came. Instead, her mother came and convinced everyone who came to my defense (and to her daughter’s a well) that it was both parties’ fault.

I knew, deep down, I should have called the police. I knew it. I just knew it. Fact is, I just didn’t do anything about it. I didn’t follow my instinct.

Now, I couldn’t claim insurance for $#!* I have to spend a lot, as the bumper is dented, and the taillight is broken.

I am just really sad that seeing that the girl who had hit my Mazda was my neighbour. My neighbour.

Ugh. I can’t even believe I’m playing this pathetic card. I’m out. For now.

(I’ll update with picture of my poor Mazda in a bit as soon as I can, because right now, I’m mentally put down by loads of things at the moment.)

*JUMPS*

IT’S HERE!! I’M EXCITED!!

I haven’t done this in a while

I was reading Ani’s blog, and found this rather interesting, so I copied it off (haven’t read the questions yet), and so I’m going to read and answer the question as I type this all up. Here goes. (I edited it up a bit, to eliminate the ‘NO CHEATING’ bits.)

Name 5 people you can think of right off the top of your head. Or you can use your top 5. Don’t read the questions underneath until you write the names of all 5 people. This is a lot funnier if you actually randomly list the names first.

  1. A, the boyfriend,
  2. Liz, the cousin,
  3. Izzah, one of the best friends,
  4. Babu, the mom,
  5. Jimmy, the sister.

How did you meet number 3?
We first met in primary school, back in PGGMB Telepok. We got closer in STPRI and now, as we grow old together. :)

On a scale 1-10 rate your friendship with number 5?
We bicker a lot, but I enjoy the times when we get along great and give each other high fives when we trick someone in believing and/or doing something.

How long have you known 4?
My entire life! She is my mother!

How do you know number 2?
Well, my aunt decided to have a baby, and she became one of my companions.

What would you do if 3 told you they loved you?
I would ask her if she’s feeling all right, then say, “I’m kidding. I love you too.” I always do that to her, she’s just fun to annoy sometimes. :)

A fact about number 1.
He is Mr. Amazing.

Who is 4 going out with?
No one. She reckons she is now too old. She just wants to take care of her children and take care of our future children: her grandchildren.

What does 5 do for a living?
She annoys the hell out of me, and she studies during the day.

Would you live with number 3?
Yes! :D

What do you like about number 1?
He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. That’s one of the things anyway.

Do you miss number 2?
Very! I haven’t seen her much these days, she’s been busy working and managing Sweet Tooth!

Would you kiss number 3?
Err. Can I not answer this? LOL.

What’s your opinion of number 4?
She nags, like the typical mother, but she’s like one of my best friends. We talk, we laugh, we argue, we do everything.

What’s your favorite memory with number 1?
Watching TV together and try to stay on the same channel.

What would you do if 1 and 2 went out?
I hope they get me something nice! Hahahaha.

Ever had a long conversation with 5?
If it involves her studies, yea.

Have you ever slept at 2’s house?
I used to! And I loved the sleepover sessions. There was this one time, we had an old movie marathon with When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, When A Man Loves A Woman, and While You Were Sleeping!

Do you hang out a lot with 3?
Not so much these days, she’s busy with her final year, and I’m busy trying to juggle work with my social life!

Who have you known the longest?
Number 4.

Who have you known the shortest?
Number 1.

How often do you talk and see 1?
We talk every night of the week.

What about 2?
Whenever I see her. It’s like I can’t wait to spill the beans, whatever I have, to her whenever I see her!

MTKI makes KAW

SIGH. What a weekend that was. I’m still left tired from all of it.

Let’s start with Saturday.

  • I had to get out of the office mid-morning because my uncle’s father-in-law passed away, and my mom needed someone to drive her to Selayun because her car was blocked my someone else’s.
  • Picked up my sister from STPRI, and before that, had to get her afternoon school clothes at home.
  • Lunch was spent at Yayasan, just so I can get back to work in time, and my mom could send my sister back to school.
  • Back in the office, I had to finish two proposals (which I had just finished this morning).
  • Went home at 4.30PM, and took a nap before going back to Selayun for congregational prayer and tahlil at about 7PM.
  • Left Selayun at about 9.30PM, and shopped for groceries at the nearby Giant, which thankfully closes at 11PM.
  • Finished shopping around 10.30PM, and planned to bake Madeira cupcakes with cream cheese topping for Sunday’s get-together when we got home, but my exhaustion convinced me otherwise.

Then on Sunday..

  • Woke up unusually early to bake and frost Madeira cupcakes before leaving the house to pick kain up from YMRM at Batu Satu (compliments of a friend/socialite for my mom on Mothers’ Day.) Accomplished baking and frosting in less than 90 minutes, but ended up with aching arms.
  • Had lunch right after picking up the kain, and went to Giant again for the things we had forgotten the night before.
  • Finally arrived home after half an hour of last-minute shopping. With cupcakes done, all I had to do was make baked pasta.
  • Bring the pasta to a boil, create easy-to-make sauce with chicken, sliced mushrooms, and a can of tomato sauce, then found out that the sauce wasn’t enough for the pasta. I have to add that the discovery was made after I had mixed in the sauce with all of the pasta.
  • So I had to go to WesMart to get more of the canned sauce, hoping that they had it in stock. They didn’t.
  • Off I went to Giant, hoping that they had stocked the sauce. They did.
  • Then my mom asked me to buy starch flour, and Giant didn’t have the brand that my mom wanted, so off to WesMart I had to go.
  • Thankfully, this didn’t go on and on, so I could make my way home by the time flour was in hand.
  • Baked my pasta, just in time for the arrival of our family members.
  • Entertained them from about 3PM to a little before dusk. Entertained in every possible way.
  • Was supposed to head down to Selayun for another tahlil session after the family left the house, but I was too tired to even keep my eyes open, let alone drive, so I had to pass.
  • I was in a not-so-good mood when I was talking to the boyfriend last night, and he realized it. (It was hard to hide things like exhaustion sometimes.)

Just thinking about the weekend makes me tired. I’m off for now.

Guess The Google

Thanks to her, and her post, I am now addicted to this.

Guess The Google: highly addictive.

I’ve only managed to score 382 388. Boo!

I hate spam comments. If any of your comments get stuck in the spam list, I don’t think I have the patience to weed them out, because they come by the hundreds! :( I probably need a better spam filter, don’t I?

So anyway, the cupcakes I made the other day turned out great! Well, I cheated, but it was great still. Makes a good dessert after every meal, every day until it runs out. Fattening, but such a good guilty pleasure. Mom has asked to make another batch to be made available on Sweet Tooth for the weekend. So if you want a taste, do drop by. I’m selling them B$0.50 apiece.

I think what made it nice was the frosting. Before this, my mom has never liked the cupcakes that I had baked. She thinks they’re too sweet, or too chocolatey (in some chocolatey cases). This time around, she loves them! She actually feels like having one whenever I talk about making another batch.

I’m limiting myself to one cupcake per day, and that’s already a lot! I swear I’m not going to bake another batch for myself. :???:

Moving on from cupcakes.. a friend told me about Chris Brown’s Forever, and that reminded me that I keep on wanting to post about this: ever since his and Jordin Sparks’ performance on American Idol 7 results show, I think I have a small crush on him. LOL.

I think my female cousins would say, “KETINGGALAN!!” Or something.

OK. Back to work.

I just have to share this: Kellie Pickler (of American Idol season 5) on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?.

Priceless.

A piece of heaven

I want to make this:

Mmm.. Nyum.

Monday Blooze

What I’m going to do tonight is bake cupcakes with pretty icing. It brings out the kid in me, only this time, real cupcakes emerge instead of just a downright mess. I miss baking. The last Oreo cheesecake I made last month didn’t turn out so good. So, hopefully, it’s just one of those times where maybe the cream cheese was not good enough and not that I’ve lost touch.

What a boring Monday I’m having so far. In the morning, I discovered a TV program that I’m addicted to, called How It’s Made. I have this penchant for watching things assemble in a factory ever since I was little. And by golly, nothing has changed. I still have a liking for it. LOL.

An hour before lunchtime, I was so sleepy, I had no idea why. So I decided that today’s lunchtime destination was home. I took my contacts out, my tudong off, and took a nap in my baju kurong. I decided not to eat just so I’ll make it back to the office in time. In the end, all I needed was half an hour, and I was fine. Grabbed a bite to eat, freshened up, and went back to work.

Now here I am. With nothing to do but read The Book of Biff. He comes to realization a lot of times, I find out.

It was a nightmare

What I love about the Internet: I can find out who is eliminated off American Idol six hours earlier than usual. I KNOW WHO’S OUT AND I’M GLAD!! WOOO!

Bad enough that the eliminated contestant was in top 5 instead of Carly Smithson, just like how Michael Johns went before Kristy Lee Cook. Bad judgment. Bleh.

And performance night, other than being boring, what was up with Paula? I’ve been reading online, and they say it’s about time that they prove that the show is rigged. Whoops.

Now. I swear I wanted to post something other than American Idol..
