Great Tuesday

Oh, wow.

I had fun last night with five of the Girly Bloggers. While one headed home earlier, the rest of us went on a vocally-intense plan. For me, especially. Nearly lost something very precious to me, hahaha.

Pictures are on Facebook (none taken by me).

Thanks for the fun night, girls! And to Rosie, you missed out! Hee.

Losing grasp

And to think I’ve done enough of these memes. Hahaha. Tagged by Muaz.

State 15 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. The people I tagged are then to follow my footsteps and write their own 15 weird things/habits and little known facts. No tagging me back.

  1. I don’t like the sound of heavy rain on the rooftop. I also hate it when there’s thunder and lightning, especially at night, because that might cause a blackout at my house. I do love the smell of rain on grass during the day, though.
  2. Whenever I’m spooked before I go to bed, I turn on the radio so I don’t sleep in complete silence. If annoying person is on radio, then turn on CD player, or plug in the iPod onto the stereo. Haa.
  3. I am not depressed, but I love listening to sad, sappy, love songs, especially Indonesian ones. The boyfriend hates this, but I’m not sure I can stop listening to them. I simply think that Indonesian (sad) love songs are great, because they really put their words to good use!
  4. I am addicted to the Internet, it’s not even funny. It’s weird how I fit in the rest of my life in between all the surfing and blog-hopping!
  5. I love getting nifty (read: weird) things, something like Magic Instant Hair Bun would be a perfect example.
  6. Every time Hotel California (by the Eagles) comes on, I switch it off. The song freaks me out.
  7. Heavily dependent on my other half, I get cranky when I don’t hear his voice for long periods of time.
  8. I sing along to songs when I’m driving, no matter who’s in the car. I especially do it at night because the probability of other drivers seeing me singing is dim (no pun intended.) I don’t do it when people keep me busy with a conversation, of course. If only my mouth can multitask. Ha.
  9. I like being curvy, but I do not like the unwanted and unnecessary ‘bumps’. LOL.
  10. I think blogging is now really overrated, but I still do it because I don’t know how to stop.
  11. My dad taught me that if there’s an itch caused by ‘ulat bulu‘, it’s treatable with hot, melted candle wax. I don’t know if it’s true, but I love how it works every time!
  12. I might have mild OCD. I can’t start my day without certain rituals, and I like doing things in a certain pattern that makes sense in my mind. I am, however, not a perfectionist.
  13. I prefer the weather cold than warm. This might be the result of living in Brunei for the whole of my life.
  14. One of the talents that I wish I had: Playing a musical instrument. I can’t even strum a guitar properly!
  15. I love making people laugh. But maybe that isn’t so much little-known-fact, is it?

With that over, let’s go back to the normal routine of updating you with whatever amuses me in life. Haha.

I went for my usual step aerobics session today, and Atul and Nonnie joined me! It was fun having them with me, actually. Makes everything less tiring. Though I don’t think Atul wants to join another session. Heehee. (Join lagi baaaahh! Siuk jua!)

Take another chance

Oh my God. I am so unbelievably worn out and sunburned at the moment. I never knew I’d be the latter, but I am, and it hurts. I’ve never been sunburned, so it’s a new, not to mention alien, feeling. It’s like having the outermost skin of your forearms being stripped down with hot wax and left to heal. Or something.

Thankfully it’s just my arms. I really don’t know what I’ll do if it’s on my nose, or anywhere facial. Erh, shivers just went down my spine.

So it was a busy weekend. Pyjama Night Out last night was a lot of fun. Seeing people in their pyjamas was the highlight of the night. And a certain someone was sobbing during the movie. LOL. I could demonstrate it once again, if you want, but only in real life and with the someone there. Kidding. Wink

The movie made me cry and laugh again. I still believe that’s the best movie I’ve watched this year so far.

The movie ended at about 9PM, but we ate a bit and talked to a few people here and there. I was talking to Nonnie’s boyfriend about something we had in common, and I hope I haven’t discouraged him in any way at all. I was just sharing experience, and I’d rather he has a different one. A pleasant one. Smile

Maurina, Atul, Reeda, and myself also had a discussion with a Brunei Times journalist ranging from voluntarism, to culture, to teaching! It brought us to an hour before midnight! Interesting.

Now that the Internet is properly up and running, I feel like posting a picture up from the night. The picture is from Nonnie’s camera, but there are more from Maurina’s camera, and I’m going to remind her soon to send them over. Don’t ask me if I took any pictures, because I didn’t. I haven’t charged the battery to my camera in weeks now, and I had forgotten to charge the day before. So just take a look at this one, yes? Razz

I notice now that my hair was covering one of my eyes. Haha. I will leech and have more pictures soon. Haha.

Now. The IT Picnic of The Statutory Body was today at Seri Kenangan beach, and it was so much fun! Besides the sunburn, of course. I wish I had pictures, but I don’t. However, I think it was just one of those things that I will miss so much about working there. And again, it is the same thing: my newly-made friends.

Sigh.

What a sad note for an ending of an upbeat post. Will update again soon! Smile

Get your reading glasses on

I have become utterly selfish and decided to change my layout to something else that will render my readers blind. OK, no, it’s just a bit hard to read. But! I am using this because it reminds me of the old times (plus, it’s pretty.) Don’t blog layouts used to look like this? Hahaha. I do hate how the sidebar is looking at the moment, but what the heck. I’m at a layout transition phase. Or some sort. (Something has got to explain why I chose this layout.)

Actually, web design-wise, this is a very bad layout. I learned, back in ITB, that fonts have to be readable. But do I care now? Not really. Bad layouts are great! Grin

Moving on to something a bit selfless, a big shout out to Miss Maurina! A birthday wish for someone who turns another year older. I will see if I can find the time to make tiramisu for you, yes? Big hugs on your birthday.

So, back to — points to self — me, because of what I had felt in the previous entry, I have decided that my great news wasn’t such a big deal after all. It’s just.. news. And let me break it to you. If you hadn’t heard from the IT Manager of where I’m currently working, or from my mom (because these two have been spreading the word; one to inform, and the other, I don’t know being a typical parental unit), here it is: I’ve been offered another job. This time, by the Government of Brunei Darussalam as a system supervisor.

Don’t ask me where I’ll get attached, because they haven’t stated where yet. So hang in there, I’ll bring you the news soon.

What bothers me is that.. I don’t know. Here I am, switching jobs like I change my hairdos, and people out there are desperate to get employed. I feel so selfish. (This is the different kind than the one I stated in the first paragraph.)

In my defense, I totally did not expect myself to be recruited by the Government after the poor performance I had showcased that is my interview. Before the letter came, I knew I didn’t get it. I knew. I didn’t know I was going to be proven wrong. So, I had taken the offer of my current employer. And I feel so, so guilty for actually discussing my letter of resignation after only two weeks of working there.

I have made a good friend there in the IT department. She just layan me on our internal IM whenever I type “NGANTUUUUUK!~” (translation: sleepy.) She brings me out for breaks, which is great, nothing I had experienced in my previous workplace. Basically, she just layan every silly, ridiculous things I say or do, and vice versa. And I’m going to miss her when I move (again.)

It really is hard to read with a font so tiny, isn’t it? Wink

Maurina has been diligently uploading the pictures bit by bit because there is 4.7GB worth of photos! Phew. Even 4.7GB is sort of a mouthful right now. It has to do with me just waking up actually. Which is why I’m going back to bed.

More pictures to come soon, courtesy of Maurina’s uploads.

Thank you, Eyan!!

Randomly..

.. I am my mom’s family’s event manager. True story.

I just had a random fight with him. Our first fight in 2007.

Getting off that random boat;

I also watched Alien VS. Predator — Requiem with my colleagues yesterday, including a former blogger by the name of Nadd. (I know you are reading! Razz ) It was such a pity that the movie wasn’t that good. Don’t even waste your money on watching it in the cinemas, or buying a DVD. If your friend, sister, brother, cousin, or spouse has the DVD, then just borrow it off them. But then you’ll be wasting your time.

Just don’t watch it. Rating: 2 out of 5 stars. If it wasn’t for the hybrid, it would have been 1.

But I’d like to thank my colleagues who paid for my ticket and drink! (I didn’t find out in the end because they won’t tell.)

Liz’s family had a barbecue going on last night, and that was loads of fun. Fighting over food and whatnot. Haha. I don’t know if they had chocolate fondue (again) because I left to watch the movie.

I hate that tomorrow is a working day. I just want to laze about at home. Which, I seem to be not doing ever since I’ve got those things they call spare time. Whatever spare time I have, someone is bound to have something for me to do. Like drive them somewhere, or watch movies with them, or have lunch. Hahaha.

I’m supposed to have lunch with Maurina today, but I can’t because, like I said, I’m my mom’s family’s event manager.

(I am also sad that there haven’t been pictures of the GBN by our official photographer yet, but I am patient because I knew he took loads and loads of pictures and he has to recolour some of them as they were taken in the “orange veranda”. Hehe. Also, boys have been popping up here and there asking me why I haven’t invited them to the GBN because they saw me in a picture posted in Rano’s site. Seriously, boys. It’s called GIRLY Bloggers’ Night, and if that doesn’t take full effect, it’s also called GIRLS in December. LOL. You know I’m kidding. [Not about the name of the gathering, though.] Hahahaha. Wink )

Girly Bloggers’ Night 2

Wow. I had a blast at this year’s Girly Bloggers’ Night/Girls In December. Truth be told, I wasn’t looking forward to it because I had a really long day and whatnot, but it turned out to be great! It was much more relaxed than last year, we had barbecue and fondue! We just ate and had a laugh.

I have a few pictures, but I’m going to wait for him to post everything up so I can steal. Haha.

I have to say, Maurina has outdone herself this year. Impeccably organized. Nonnie has gone out of her way to create the cute name tags with each girl’s URL underneath — which I’m keeping it for memories’ sake. Emma, being the gracious host, as always. (Don’t forget the cheese fondue recipe! Smile And update! Please?)

If you ladies didn’t sign up, or signed up and didn’t attend, you missed out, big time!

(Pictures to come soon!)

Guitar Heroes quotes are funny.

I’ve been playing Guitar Heroes 3 since yesterday with my new, wireless guitar. I heard there was something cheaper, like the wired one, and I could’ve bought that. But I was just too excited to even do research beforehand. But I think the guitar looks cool. Black and white, so, yea. It doesn’t really look like a toy. Hehe.

Anyway. About my problem that I have been vaguely posting about in my last two entries, I have decided to suck it up. My aunts and uncles have been advising me to talk it out, but I guess I’m much more of a believer that whoever does something horrendous to you, things will take care on its own, and I’ll be the last one laughing.

Okay, not laughing per se, but more along the lines of everything will be even. Enough about my problems. They are as interesting as the colour of my skin.

It’s a Sunday, and it’s been a great one so far. Besides playing Guitar Hero 3 on the PlayStation 2, we had a chocolate fondue at home. In case someone is wondering, it isn’t the fountain kind, more like the what I have in the picture, but it serves the same purpose. I’m planning on getting the fountain one when I go to Singapore in February, though.

On another, but sort of similar happy, note, I’m going to get something big next week. It’s kind of the same like a friend’s, but my family says, if you really want it, it doesn’t matter.

And guess what? I AM EXCITED! Things are looking up, and hopefully I can get out of this funk that I’ve been in for a couple of weeks without a scratch.

Aside from all that happening in the next week itself, I am also joining BSM’s Walk-A-Hunt next Sunday. Hopefully I will have fun. So much, that I would want to join again next year. I will have her as a partner. Grin

Oh! That reminds me. There are still a few slots left for GBN2, so ladies, sign up if you haven’t!

It’s a girl thing

Just a quick update for you ladies out there:

It’s the second annual Girly Bloggers’ Night Out! We have got an official photographer now as well!

I’m hoping that my Kedayan and Feline friends join. Maybe the Firefly as well, yes? Grin

Ladies, leave your men at home!~ (Destiny’s Child Jumpin’ Jumpin’ comes to mind, haha.)

It IS small!

I had a small open house yesterday. I know, it’s 1st Zulkaedah on that day, and no longer Syawal, but despite the oversight, we went with it anyway.

I had gotten a “You said SMALL!” more times than I can count, but I swear, it was just a really small affair. What made it seem big was my family members and their cars in the frontyard! LOL.

I had my girl friends come over, I also had a number from back in my CIS days, and a few bloggers. I also had my best friend of 10 years come over, but she left early. That bully. I didn’t even get to take pictures with her. There were some people missing, and I hope (hope really hard!) that people received my text messages.

Because, like what I said to people who would want to listen, the day after my dad’s death, I had messaged everyone I knew about the passing of my dad. Apparently, only 70% of the people I sent text messages to had received it. So hopefully, people didn’t come because they couldn’t make it, and not because I didn’t hand out invites.

It really was just a small thing, you didn’t miss much. Wink

Here are some pictures, but you can look around the full album here.

The single remaining sushi platter of three. The other two was gone in 20 minutes.

Rosie and I. Smile

Amalina and boyfriend, Adee.

A tiny fraction of my CIS20 friends; Sel, Mia, and Noreen.

The bloggers who came; Rosie and Maurina.

I will caption them soon, I promise! For now, I’m off to watch Bee Movie with my mom and little sister.
