I don’t know why I even have a digital camera. I don’t even post pictures up these days, and I can’t remember when the last time I had uploaded pictures from my camera onto my laptop. I’ve got pictures, you see, on how I spent my first day of the Gregorian year. But I am too lazy.

My cousin’s son and daughter had a birthday party on the new year and it was just so much fun! They had bouncers, slides, games (with cool stationery for the kids, and Easi recharge cards for grown-ups as prizes — I won $20!), great food, live band, karaoke, and great company! There’s nothing like your family surrounding you, right? I just had a pang of longing for my dad’s presence. But it just feels numb now.

Anyway. Yes. I’m not working at The Studio anymore. If I were to reveal what happened in the place where unnecessary insanity/drama occurs every second of the day, it would be too controversial, and I may have to stab a few eyes to run away and get out of the country. That might have not made any sense, but it made more sense than tomatoes jumping out the window.

I’m delirious.

Nah. I’m just exhausted. I would really love some time to just sleep and not worry about waking up early the next day. No matter how many public holidays there are, the day just wouldn’t come.

I digress. I did sort of have a sad goodbye towards the end of my last show on the radio, though. The boyfriend was listening in, I usually tell him not to, but since it was my last.. why not. And he said the show had a sad vibe to it. Well, I was a little choked up when I said my long goodbye. HAHAHA. No. I did not cry. Please.

I’m glad that I no longer work there. At least by the end of my full-time working day, I wouldn’t have to worry about driving straight to RTB to continue working. It can get quite tiring. But I would like to wish my former colleagues who are still working at The Studio the best of luck. You will need it, especially after the change in show formats.

On another note, I have something great happening this weekend, but I need to stock up on my faith, and hope very hard that it will go great.

Oh, before I forget, I would also like to wish my former colleague at BAG Networks, dearest Nadd, who has left to grab bigger, and better opportunities elsewhere. (Who didn’t tell me this until today, the day she left!) But good luck, you! And let’s go for another thriller at the cinema next time and we’ll scream our heads off and then laugh at ourselves. You’re going to be missed!

As I was on my way to the studio for my three hour shift last night (just in case, time check now is WAY after midnight), I was surprised to see the usually orange-carpeted walls were very much bare.

Sean was in the studio before he handed it over for Technologic (the show Aaron and I host every Saturday night, by the way), and I talked to him about the walls, and he said, “It’s like being in Saw.” Then, I said, “Maybe they’re filming Saw 4 in Brunei!”

Wishful thinking on my part. But even Aaron, who was in Bandar this time ’round, said that the walls look scary. Haha.

So if you’re wondering how it looks like before, I don’t have the before picture, but the walls’ were lined with orange carpet, like shown below.

This is just outside Pilihan FM studio.

Just one of those days when I don’t have anything good to blog about. Ha.

I was itching to write, I have no idea why. Maybe because I forgot to mention that I had to replace my old modem with a new one for B$100, because it was two months past its warranty period. Pfft. Annoying. I asked the boys who came over to fix the Internet problem if they could get rid of it for me. They told me that I could keep it. For memory’s sake. Riiight.

Anyway! I was out shopping at YMRM tonight with my aunties because the supposed crazy sale they had started from 6 to 9PM. Wasn’t so crazy, but managed to buy a few materials for new baju kurongs for my cousin’s wedding in August. Miss Izzah called in the midst of the me taking five. She’s back home, and it was sooooo good to hear from her without the line being cut off. She sounded so tired — jetlagged, she said. Poor girl. Have enough rest so we can catch that movie on Monday with Wanah and Mizah, okay? Can’t wait to see you! MWAH.

Listening to the radio at the moment, and is that Bahrain on the air? Haha. Been a while.

So I was exchanging information with my mom earlier today. Interesting, is all I can say.

P.S.: I like Mandy Moore’s Extraordinary, and Timbaland’s The Way I Are.

P.P.S.: BOWLING THIS SUNDAY! WOO!

Yesterday, Hamizah (pictured left) went to have lunch and go for a movie with Zawanah (pictured right) and I, in conjunction with her birthday on the 1st. So I’d like to say, a big, HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY! to Miss Hamizah. Grin

Mizah and Wanah; both May babies!

We had lunch at Millenium, and had the buffet, while we talked our way through it. We were full before we even got to the dessert table, so we upped and left for The Mall, in Gadong, to catch Spiderman 3. What can I say about the movie? It was too long for me, not duration-wise, but more in a sense that it was dragging and Zawanah and I were anticipating for the end. I don’t know about Hamizah, because she was busy with something else.

As usual, a few of the movie-goers were acting up and laughing loudly until nearly everyone shushed them at one point, which, I have to say, worked miracles; they stopped! LOL.

Anyway. Had fun as always, but I had work last night. My first Nite Tune of my service to Radio Brunei. I was extremely nervous at first. I usually just use my sandals to work, but I had my sneakers on, just so I could keep my feet warm because they were cold from my state of nervousness.

I don’t know why I was nervous.. I’m guessing that it’s my first air time with Aaron, and it’s my first twin broadcast (KB studio with BSB studio), and it’s my.. first Nite Tune? I don’t know. I was really nervous. Frequent bathroom breaks in between too, only God knows. LOL.

However, the night went better than I expected. The flow of conversation was excellent, and I enjoyed myself. I’ve been told that there were positive feedback, and it made me beam the whole day today, and it seems that things are looking up for me at the moment.

Going to have a long trip to KB tomorrow, dad’s having some check-up thing. No idea why they have to check on him in KB when we live in Brunei-Muara. But, anyway, I had mistaken it for today, thus telling one of my colleagues that I couldn’t man the interactive studio. Oops.

All righty, I will post again soon, inshaAllah. Maybe from my trip to KB? Who knows? The DSC-T50 knows no bounds. Smile

P.S.: Sorry, this post had nothing to do with turtles. Haha.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Radio Brunei

May 2nd, 2007 Posted 7:46PM

May 2nd, 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of Radio Brunei. I was in the Pilihan office and on-air studio 4 last night, tying knots of such things that now dangle from the studio ceiling. (Sorry, no pictures, but maybe soon.) Today, colleagues of mine, and myself, gathered around the studio while Frankie went on air.

We had one of the most amazing callers, that had announced what Pilihan meant for her. I don’t remember what the whole thing was exactly, but she did mention that we were the number 1 radio station, live on national radio. EAT THAT! Well, it was really fantastic of her to say it, and much more when she mentioned it the second time, when Frankie decided to record it. Thankfully, he works the controls fast, I didn’t even realize he was recording it. LOL.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was there to officiate the whole thing, and when he did, Pilihan Network (Your Ultimate Choice) is now known as Pilihan FM (Simply Your Choice). It’s going to take a while to get used to the new catchphrase. Especially after two years of announcing “Pilihan Network.”

Anyway, HRH Crown Prince dropped by Pilihan’s studio, after he did Nur-Islam’s, and we were all panicking at what to answer. It was a hilarious thing for us to act like that, in retrospect. But it was cool.

I didn’t like the whole waking up early thing. I’m so used to having lie-ins. Sigh.

Moving on to a different topic; the last post. It’s password protected, and I’m not giving away the password. It’s something personal, and it just makes me feel better that I let it publish on the Internet without allowing anyone to read. It’s a personal thing that I do. I usually write it down on a piece of paper and keep it in a box somewhere, but I’ve gotten too lazy to write. But really, don’t mind the content of the post, it’s not worthy of your attention, even.

Oh, the birthday digital camera.. it won’t be pink. Wrong information was told, and false hope was given to poor ‘ol me. LOL. I’m going to have to settle with the silver one then. Going to have to learn to be common. Not that it’s hard to do, I’ve always been my whole life. HAHA.

I missed the initial satellite broadcast of American Idol. I’m going to catch it in 15 minutes, I will update again, inshaAllah.

Before I go on as usual on my abandoned-for-four-days blog, let me just wish a good friend of mine, Amalina;

amal.jpg

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY!!

I know I texted you already at midnight, Brunei time, but you’re just one of my greatest people I know. Hope you have only the good things, the great things, and the best of things. May all the happiest things happen to you, especially the first class degree, and come home soon, we miss you! 22! I’ll join the club in.. 11 days! (Oh, and may you have many more birthdays!)

Oh, also to Miss Saleha, whom I haven’t talked to in yonks, HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY, SWEETY!! Grin

All right, shifting back the attention to this blog, there’s a new feature that brings you to random posts by clicking here! (Or you can look over the left sidebar, that enables you to become one of the adventurous! Exciting! Not.

So how have I been? (Thanks for asking. Harumph!) To those who have either met up with me, or called me up, they’d know I’ve been under the weather for around a week now. I can walk and talk fine, but I’m a little manja to those who I’m very, very close to. Coughing a little uncontrollably, which is irritating, especially when I’m on air. There was this one time when I was entertaining a call off the air, I coughed like mad and had forgotten to put the call on hold, and let the caller listen to the hacking. Hahaha.

One other thing that happened at work while I was at work, was when I was having one of my dizzy bouts, and I announced completely different things. It was weird, but I think people would understand. Right?

Other than that, my birthday is coming up soon, and so are my closest friends’ birthdays. A chunk of my closest friends’ birthdays are on April and May, and it started with Saleha’s. Hamizah’s is up next, turning 22 as well, on the 1st of May! Mine is after that, of course, ahem ahem. Then Zawanah on the 11th, then Salwana on the 12th! Yippee! We’re all turning 22! Grin

That’s not all, though. I have family members who turn a year older in May. And I can tell you, there are more than two handfuls! (Meriah jua May ani ah? May babies rock! Grin)

My mom ran out of ideas on what to get me for my birthday this year, and she asked if I wanted B$500 cash. I said I’ll think about it. Then I told her I’ve always wanted the Sony DSC-T50 digital camera. So that’s what I’m getting! Grin My dad? Well, we already made a deal that I won’t be getting any birthday gifts for five years because I got a laptop three years ago when I first started ITB. I’ll be getting another gift when I turn 24, inshaAllah. Smile

So I’m happy I’m finally getting something that I really want. I’m going to have to cross that off my list of birthday things that I have never received. Hehe. I have this one other nagging birthday thing that I’ve always wanted, but feel too pathetic to actually tell someone about it. Hahaha. I’ll have to have thick skin to actually tell anyone about it, so no, I won’t be opening my mouth any time soon.

The month of May is also a month of new things (besides getting brand new age numbers.) I’ll be doing Nite Tune shows every Saturdays, with Pilihan’s own Aaron. I’ll only be co-presenter, so it’s really no biggie, but I like the idea of doing Nite Tune. It’s the only one show that I haven’t done in my two years of service. (Aiseh, service konon.)

Oh! Also in May, I’ll be graduating with my mates from ITB. Very, very excited about this, especially. I collected my rented robe from Ms. Wida earlier this morning, and also my leaving certificate. It’s all very exhilirating!! Eek!

Enough about the month of May, and this post too, because it’s getting a bit too long for my liking. I will update again soon, inshaAllah. Maybe it’ll be less than four days this time, yea? Smile

P.S.: Aunty, I know how to cook. A bit. Wink

Phew. What a day. It hasn’t been a hectic one, but it was a boring one. You know, so boring that it tires you? Yea, that type.

I was at the roundtable forum (thingy) by Total in partnership with Asia Inc Forum. To be precise, I was at the projector room, recording the whole thing for work. Since I’ve finished school and I’m not doing anything (and the genius in me notified the boss about it), I was asked to observe the recording. I misplaced — a good alternative for lost — the schedule that my boss had provided me with, but I remembered that it started at around 8AM.

I didn’t want to be late and have trouble with parking, so I departed at quarter past 7AM. Thinking, “Oh no, what about the traffic around schools?” I zoomed my way there, and the parking spaces at the back and sides of the International Convention Centre were empty. I thought, “Did I get the date or time wrong? Where on earth is everyone?” Except for the parking spaces directly opposite the ICC’s entrance, everywhere else was empty. So I parked at the front of the entrance, and made my way to the Dewan Muzakarah.

I asked an usherette where the RTB OB crew were, and she said they hadn’t made their way in yet. Now that I think about it, I think they thought I was talking about the RTB staff that was going to attend the forum. Anyway. So I was waiting and waiting, and I saw one of the OB crew, a woman I wasn’t totally familiar with, but have seen at almost all Pilihan Network’s outside broadcast.

I approached her and asked where we were supposed to be. She showed me to the projector room upstairs and we were completely at isolation from the forum. No one can even hear us. Perfect, I thought.

Then I found out from the lady who was going to record the whole thing with me that the event started at 9AM!! I completely wasted an hour of sleep that I really needed (feeling under the weather today, that’s why.) So she and I sat in this dark, tiny, carpeted room, with space only for one table and two chairs at 8.30 in the bloody morning, and dozed off for 20 minutes.

At around 10 minutes before the event started, I awoke and so did the lady. It’s funny now, in retrospect. Anyway.. the thing stretched on and on until 12.35PM with a small coffee break in between and I bored myself to death. My mobile phone battery ran flat halfway through the event, so I had to stop playing card games on it. There was barely anyone there, really.

I’m somewhat thankful that I was at the ICC early because if I had arrived a minute later, I wouldn’t know where the lady from the OB crew would be stationed, and I would miss the welcoming remarks and the keynote address in the first half hour of the event. LOL.

That was how my morning went. After midday, I napped and made myself feel a little bit worse.

A few moments ago, I was helping my cousins prepare for the birthday BBQ at Liz’s. Which is where I’m currently staying. My dad’s going to be discharged on Monday, so alhamdulillah for that. Other updates?

I’m more in love with the boyfriend more than ever.

Grin

Leave me alone, I’m just being happy.

There is nothing like stumbling upon new blogs, say “Oh, wow.” in a way that’s even ambiguous to yourself. Then you straightaway bookmark them, and pledge to stalk every new entry and make sure there are no hidden meanings. All right, seriously. I found a few anonymous blogs today that give away their identity so easily. Was this their intention, though? Don’t matter. I’m not here to analyze their every blogging move.

I did promise to put up pictures, but so far I’ve only got eight of them to put up. And these were from Frankie’s small surprise birthday party at the studio. (Sorry if anyone missed it. I heard it was last minute.)

The ice cream cake! It made me feel like a kid again. I will ask my mom to buy me an ice cream cake when I turn 22 next month.

I’ve finally gotten the pictures off of the digital camera, and err.. I haven’t got a lot of good ones. LOL. I’ve managed to scrummage through ten, so here they are. Click on them to enlarge. (Because my pretty, new layout doesn’t allow huge-sized images to not be broken.)

The registration counter One of the contestants The judges The technical side of everything My cousins and I At the end of day 1 preliminaries John & Izan Guess who? ;)

They’re a hassle to edit because the original size of one image is more than 1MB. They took a while to edit, okay? So at least there are a few pictures. Razz

I’m going to put up a teaser of what’s to come. (From Marilyn’s digital camera.)

This was taken during the night before Frankie’s 16th 19th birthday. We surprised him on air, and it was so much fun. Smile So expect that in future updates.

I am too beat. Beaaaaaaat. I don’t have the pictures from the P.A.T. 2007 walk-in auditions yet. I don’t know if it was a success or not, but I would like to think that it is. Almost everyone was there, and I was happy about it. I don’t know why. It was fun, especially what happens after. We ate at Capers in Kiulap, and the pasta with the lamb shank (forgot the name of the dish) was brilliant. I loved it. We were having the all you can eat offer, and we ordered four plates of that particular dish. Outrageous, but we finished 3 and a half plates. LOL.

Like I said, it was fun. If there were pictures, I’d show them to you. But I don’t have it now, like I mentioned earlier.

So I was doing Marilyn’s Triple 1 show for her today (you’re welcome! Grin) and a newcomer was observing the way I work the console. It was a bit tough having someone there constantly, without s/he being a co-presenter, but I made it. Anyway, when I got home, there was nothing to eat, so I went with my mom to get some late lunch. I had soto, which was very heavy and it’s making me want to sleep. Even now. It’s crazy.

I have to do some light exercises, my mom told me the adrenaline could do me good. Okay, she didn’t exactly say that, but she implied it. Ergh. I’m not a big fan of exercising. Give me netball anytime. (Maybe it’s because I don’t see netball as exercising? Haha.)

Before I go, I might not have to post the locked entry that I said in the previous post. But we’ll see.

I’ll reply to your comments soon. Thanks so much for dropping by and saying hi! Appreciate it. Smile
